Our Story
I’m Jashan Kumar, and The Kurti Store started with a story much closer to home than a business idea.
A few years ago, my neighbours were a family of three — a husband, a wife, and their daughter. Everything was going normally until the husband met with a serious accident and lost his leg.
Overnight, the family’s situation changed.

He could no longer work like before, and there was no regular source of income left for the family. My mother, who is the person behind the beginning of this journey, decided to help in a way that could give the family something more valuable than temporary support — a skill they could earn from.
She taught his wife stitching.
She learned. She worked hard. And eventually, she became good at it.
But there was one problem.
She had the skill, but she didn’t have the customers.
That is where The Kurti Store began.
We started this store to create a real platform for women who have the ability and willingness to work, but often don't have the right opportunities, customers, or infrastructure to turn their skills into a sustainable income.
I have invested the money into building this business, while the women who stitch our products receive around 60% more than the usual market rate for their stitching work, with the rest depending on the work they take on and the effort they put in.

But this is bigger than one family.
The Kurti Store is starting with women’s daily-wear clothing, with a simple promise:
Good products. Fair work. No fake claims.
We are not here to throw around words like “cheapest”, “best in the market” or “unbeatable quality” just to sell.
We want our products to actually live up to what we say.
Every order helps us build something beyond a clothing store — an infrastructure where more women can find work, earn independently, and grow through their own skills.
And what do I make from this?
Of course, the business needs to be profitable to survive and grow.
But my bigger goal is to use that growth to build the infrastructure needed to bring more women into this ecosystem.
The Kurti Store is not built only to sell kurtis.
It is being built to create opportunities.
And this is only the beginning.
